One of METROLAB's goals is to minimize the environmental impact of its operations. The company has policies and practices in place to reduce energy and natural resource consumption, a recycling program, and a plan for gradually reducing emissions into the atmosphere. Below are the environmental actions of METROLAB:
1. Reduction of Energy Consumption – use of Green Energy
- Renewal of equipment in the laboratory and offices with the procurement and use of low-energy consumption devices. This includes: laboratory instruments, computers, printers, scanners, refrigerators, air conditioners, and light bulbs.
- Water heating with solar energy.
- Electric power supply from renewable energy sources.

2. Reduction of Waste Quantity
Gradual replacement of vehicles with hybrid or electric ones, leading to a corresponding reduction in gas emissions.
Collaboration with an external agency for the collection and recycling of liquid laboratory waste.
Gradual reduction of paper usage through the adoption of electronic invoicing and the use of electronic communication and archiving systems.
Participation in recycling programs for solid materials, such as:
• Small and large electrical appliances.
• Batteries, light bulbs, and printer ink cartridges.
• Packaging materials and paper.
In 2024, it was decided to integrate policies and procedures into the Management System that lead to compliance with the requirements of the ISO 14001 Standard. The Management System was inspected and certified for the first time based on the ISO 14001 Standard in February 2025, by the accredited body TÜV Hellas.
